So we’ve put loads of recipe and shopping list apps through their paces. Some of them we’ve used for a while and quite liked – Epicurous and Allmyecipes are good apps but nothing comes close to Paprika (for iOS, Android, Kindle and desktop/laptop – see links below) in terms of features, functionality and ease of use, especially if you use a tablet as well as your smartphone.
Paprika lets you organize your recipes, make meal plans, and create shopping lists and using the built-in web browser, you can save recipes from anywhere on the web making importing your favourite recipes a pain free, quick and easy process.
There are a load of functions that even help once you’ve started cooking…umpteen timers can be set, steps crossed of the list as they’re done and ingredients scored out when they’ve been used. Recipes can be automatically scaled for the number of people/portions…there’s way too much to go into here…have a play with it to discover just how much time and effort this app can save in the kitchen…and in the supermarket.
What’s more, your recipes and meal plans can be synchronised seamlessly across phone, tablet and computer apps!
The downside? It’s not free…and you need to buy spirit versions for desktop/laptop, smartphone and tablet. Regardless it’s a small price to pay and you can try it for just a few quid on your phone or tablet before going ‘multi-platform’. We love it.
