Periscope

persicope_iconTHERE’S been numerous apps for streaming live video from your smartphone for a while now…U-Stream was one we liked, but most have disappeared without a trace or were clumsy and unreliable.

In March two new video streaming apps appeared – Meerkat and Periscope. We’ve not really tried Meerkat, and as Periscope is owned by Twitter – and is the one we’ve messed around with – we reckon it’ll be the winner in the battle for video streaming app supremacy.

It’s dead easy to use. Download the app, lunch it and create a profile – especially straightforward if you’re already on Twitter  – and off you go.

You can start your own broadcast with a couple of clicks…or watch other streams from all over the world.

G63 contributor and touring musician Dave Arcari has been using Periscope to stream live segments from shows on his current UK tour and we’ve been pretty impressed.

• Apple iPhone users can get the app and find out more by clicking the banner below…Android users can find out more here.
