THREE DRYMEN mums are – quite literally – getting on their bike(s) this weekend on a mission to raise funds to improve Drymen Primary school’s playing fields.
In a bid to raise £5000, Jackie Mackay, Ruth Ronald and Sarah Saunders embark on not only a 42-mile cycle, but also a 17-mile walk to take them along Rob Roy Way from Drymen to Kenmore on Sunday.
They’re not going it alone, though, for joining them on part of the fundraising trip are three more mums – Rebecca Fleming, Jen Braid and Wendy Robb who are helping the fundraising effort.
“For too many years it has rained (a lot) in Drymen turning our Primary School playing fields into an uneven, unusable swamp,” says Jackie. “The children are prevented from getting much needed outdoor exercise, having to use the small indoor school hall or the concrete playground.”
The mums’ hope to raise at least enough cash to drain the pitch – but their real target is to raise enough to create an all-weather playing surface, not just for the children, but wider community use too.
Offline donations and sponsorship together with online pledges via the mums’ JustGiving campaign are seeing the overall fundraising effort move closer to its target. You can help provide a fantastic resource for local kids and make the mums’ vision a reality by donating here.
