BALMAHA’S Braw Weekend has unveiled a programme of events that promise a feast of food, drink, music and entertainment in an exclusive loch-side setting over the first weekend in October.
Inspired by Scotland’s Year of Food & Drink, the free-entry festival will take place on a large field, behind Balmaha’s Oak Tree Inn, the event organiser, which is bringing together a number of leading food and drink producers as well as showcasing its own beers and homemade ice cream.
From 11am on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October visitors will be able to sample food and drink, watch cooking demonstrations and enjoy live music and other entertainment.
Meanwhile, children can look forward to making their own pizza creations, joining the Mad Hatter’s tea party and watching a series of ‘funny food’ themed shows staged by children’s theatre group The McDougalls.
Saturday night will feature a real ale, beer and whisky festival from 6pm to midnight with live music from Dave Arcari, The Zips, Mick Hargan and Have Mercy Las Vegas. The weekend will close with a ceilidh on Sunday night.
The event is sponsored by Deanston Distillery and supported by Scotland’s Year of Food & Drink and Love Loch Lomond as well as Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park whose head of visitor experience Mairi Bell says: “The Year of Food & Drink has been embraced by National Park businesses with an exceptional calendar of events taking place throughout 2015.
“Balmaha’s Braw Weekend looks set to be an autumnal highlight. Craft beers, hearty local food, live entertainment by the banks of Loch Lomond, what’s not to love? With lots of inside and cosy covered spaces, the event team has covered all bases come rain or shine!”
