AROUND 5000 folks flocked to Balmaha over 3 and 4 October to enjoy a fun packed weekend of food, drink, cookery demos, daytime entertainment and live music.
Perfect weather and a stunning lochside festival site completed the ingredients for Balmaha’s Braw Weekend – an event hailed by all as a tremendous success.
While everyone enjoyed sampling the great local produce on offer, kids were entertained by regular performances from the McDougall’s theatre group, learnt traditional Highland dances from the Well Plaid Ceilidh Band’s professional dancers and took part in a lochside Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.
Daytime visitors also enjoyed entertainment from Linsey Aitken & Ken Campbell; Erin & Amber; Murdo Mitchell; Loch Lomond Ukulele Orchestra and Dance Central who all gave brilliant performances.
Glasgow singer/songwriter Mick Hargan kicked off the Saturday night music followed by punk band The Zips, alt.blues troubadour Dave Arcari and indie-folksters Have Mercy Las Vegas.
Fairground rides, stalls and workshops also kept visitors involved and entertained for the two days which came to a close with a special Sunday night ceilidh.
