PREPARATIONS are underway for the 72nd annual flower show at Buchanan Memorial Hall which takes place on Saturday 25 August.
And while it may seem a long time off, the organisers are keen to encourage Buchanan residents to prepare their entries in a number of classes which include baking, knitting and crafts, art and painting as well as the familiar flowers and vegetables.
The event’s success relies on the local community placing as many entries as they can. Organisers will be on hand at the hall to receive entries and offer help on the Friday evening (24 August) between 7pm and 9pm and between 8am and 9.45am on the morning of the show.
The event will be opened by Ruth Macpherson at 2pm when entries will be on display, prizewinners announced and many of the flowers and vegetables will be auctioned to raise money for Robin House Children’s Hospice. Afternoon tea will be served throughout the event.
