TWO new course records were set by the winners of the Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10k on Sunday (April 22).
The race saw Stephen Wylie take the men’s title in 34:30 with last year’s winner Michelle Sandison coming home in 37:54 to claim the ladies’ title. The G63 trophies for first local male and female were won by young runners Gregor McArthur (38:29) and Rosie Eckersley (43:00).
The weather in London may have been sweltering for marathon entrants but the cooler, wetter weather suited Balfron’s 400-plus runners – if not the spectators – who tackled the hilly but scenic out and back route.
This year’s race raised funds for the village’s primary and high schools as well as the Lomond Mountain Rescue Team, one of the busiest mountain rescue teams in Scotland.
